Two Solid Reasons To Hate the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti

A better GPU will allow you to have a memorable gaming experience. It will also aid in improving your computer’s performance. Apart from this, all the 3D software and applications will work with more fluency. You can also play HD videos without facing any problem due to better support for graphics. If you are a fan of GPUs from NVIDIA and looking forward to upgrading your existing GUP to NVIDIA’s RTX 3070 Ti, then you better save your bucks.

The company released this graphics card recently to utter disappointment and shock of the tech world. If you consider the offerings, this release has a bit of both from the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 releases. The $200 difference between these two versions is understandable. However, the performance doesn’t really make the impact that fans expected especially considering the price of the RTX 3070 Ti.

Even when the propositions seem better than the RTX 3070 on paper, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti doesn’t really make any sense owing to its poor performance. Even if you have a reliable ISP like Charter Spectrum cable, you may still face performance issues. So don’t blame your provider.

About NVIDIA

NVIDIA Corporation is a US technology company with headquarters in Santa Clara, California. Founded 28 years ago, it excels in creating graphics processing units (GPUs) as well as system on a chip (SoCs) units primarily for the gaming and mobile computing industries respectively. The company’s GPUs are in use across many verticals such as agriculture, engineering, construction, media, and scientific research, etc.

The company’s graphical processing units (GeForce) are quite popular. It is also known for its handheld gaming consoles. These include the Shield Portable, Shield Tablet, and Shield Android TV. The company also provides a cloud-based gaming service known as GeForce Now. CUDA is Nvidia’s API that aids in utilizing GPUs. Intel and Qualcomm are two of NVIDIA’s fiercest competitors.

The FPS Rate is a Major Disappointment

The RTX 3070 Ti has way more CUDA cores compared to the RTX 3070. 256 to be exact. It also has eight more Tensor cores. Apart from this, two extra RT cores are also present in the device. Sadly, none of these specifications result in major improvement when it comes to frame rates.

Your gaming experience will see little to no improvement if you’re upgrading your GPU from the RTX 3070 to the RTX 3070 Ti. For gamers, this is a huge letdown. The GPU underperforms at 4K resolutions. It only manages 3 more FPS than RTX 3070 while playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

If you’re playing Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll notice that the RTX 3070 Ti beats the RTX 3070 only by 5 FPS. This is a disappointing improvement, to say the least. The RTX 3080 does much better by offering 15 more frames per second than the RTX 3070. In Cyberpunk 2077, the RTX 3070 Ti continues to showcase disappointing performance with only four more frames per second compared to the RTX 3070.

Clearly, these stats are too bad to be true given the price tag on the RTX 3070 Ti. It is better to buy the RTX 3080 if you’re really looking for an improvement in your gameplay and device performance.

The Device is Unfairly Expensive

If we have a look at the price of the RTX 3070 Ti, it makes sense on paper. It is priced at $599. This is $100 more than the RTX 3070. However, it costs $100 less than the RTX 3080. The only problem is that this price given the performance of the device is unfair, to begin with. One simply doesn’t need a new GPU for a $100 difference that offers little to no improvement performance-wise.

GPUs must come with unique propositions that offer major benefits over their predecessors. The RTX 3070 Ti just doesn’t live up to the improvements over the RTX 3070. The frame rates are disappointing and so is the improvement in system performance.

Anybody can overclock the RTX 3070 to get the same graphics results that the RTX 3070 Ti is providing. And if you can be a little patient, better save a few bucks to buy the RTX 3080.

Final Words

The RTX 3070 Ti offers minor improvements compared to the RTX 3070. If we consider the price tag, these improvements are not up to the mark. Gamers and experts are, therefore, strongly discouraging the purchase of this piece of equipment from NVIDIA. Their competitor AMD provides better equipment at a lesser price. Yes, I’m talking about AMD’s RX 6800 that performs far better than the RTX 3070 Ti. And if you’re an NVIDIA fan and aiming only to buy NVIDIA products, save some money and go for the RTX 3080.
