Born Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra, better known as Meg Ryan, is an American actress who has appeared in many television shows and movies. Her film debut came in director George Cukor’s final film, Rich and Famous (1981). She also starred as Betsy Stewart on the daytime soap opera As the World Turns from 1982 to 1984. Ryan later acted in a number of smaller films and television roles.

In 2004 Ryan landed her first leading role in the sports drama Against the Ropes, which was a box office and critical flop. She starred opposite Matthew Broderick as a jilted lover bent on revenge.
