Double Duty – 5 Items In Your Diaper Bag That Have More Uses Than You Realize

Diaper Bag

Do you know what real anxiety feels like? If not, I suggest you try packing your baby’s diaper bag for your first trip away from home. Most moms find themselves stressing that they’ve forgotten an essential item or two.

Aside from the obvious things like the baby bottles, wipes, and diapers, this bag can be filled with items that have more uses than you may think. The following versatile products are well worth your consideration:

1. Sudocrem

Sudocrem is commonly used to cure diaper rashes, and it’s a lifesaver when it comes to healing broken skin. It is also the handiest item to carry with you as it can be used to soothe mosquito bites and sunburns. Mosquitoes can attack at any time, so this is a good solution to have on hand.

Another lesser-known benefit of Sudocrem is that it can be used as a make-up primer. Who would’ve thought that mom can benefit from baby’s diaper bag too?

2. Wet Wipes and Baby Powder

These are two diaper bag essentials that moms carry everywhere. We know that wet wipes are best for a baby’s bottom, but you can use them for so much more than that.

Moving around with a baby (especially a toddler who is eating) can be messy, to say the least. Wet wipes can help you clean up messes and wipe away stains on car seats and furniture while on the go.

Commonly utilized to soak up extra moisture from the diaper, baby powder is very effective at getting rid of oil stains too!

3. A Baby Towel

One of the most anxiety-inducing moments of any trip is opening up your diaper bag only to find that you’ve forgotten half of the stuff you intended to pack. If nothing else, make sure to pack your baby’s towel in your nappy bag.

You can use it as a changing mat when you have forgotten your change mat at home. If you forget your face cloth, you can use the towel to wipe a messy face.

In the worst-case scenario, you can wrap the baby towel around the baby as a cloth diaper if you’ve forgotten some of your disposable nappies at home.

4. Waste Bag Dispenser and Bags

Moms must carry around disposable waste bags at all times because there won’t always be a bin for you to dispose of your nappies.

However, did you know that you can use the same disposable bags to collect food scraps accumulated over the course of a long road trip? That way, you can dispose of the waste safely at the next stop.

Your waste bags can also come in handy as a form of extra storage to keep bath toys that may still be wet. These bags are usually nice and compact, so they don’t take up a lot of space to begin with.

5. Nappies

You can’t have a nappy bag without nappies. While nappies are a key essential for traveling with a baby, a disposable nappy also comes in handy when mom has forgotten her sanitary towels.

Yep, a nappy can be used as a pad and nurses often advise moms who have just given birth to wear nappies under their maternity pads to add that extra element of comfort.

Other items like diaper pins and disinfectant come in handy too. So remember the items in your nappy bag can have more uses than you may think.
